West Suburban, IL (August 15, 2022)– School is underway, and fall is just around the corner, but buyers still have time to be settled into a new construction home before the autumn leaves touch the ground at communities in Campton Hills and Elburn.
“Buyers are eager to move before interest rates increase and the colder temperatures are upon us,” said Jaynelle Then, Sales Director for Shodeen Homes, a family-owned-and-operated builder for over 60 years. “We’re offering some of our most popular ranch and two-story homes for quick delivery and brimming with today’s most desired options and upgrades. Homes at Norton Lake in Campton Hills, which was recently named Illinois’ #1 safest city, are priced from the low $700s. We also have a ranch with walkout basement ready now at Elburn Station and a final opportunity to own new at Blackberry Creek, also in Elburn.”
While interest rates have seen an uptick, experts reinforce the benefits of home ownership, particularly in relationship to renting. According to the Federal Reserve’s 2020 Survey of Consumer Finances, if you’re a homeowner, chances are you’re worth much more than someone who rents. The study goes on to say homeowners have a net worth that is more than 40 times greater than their renter counterparts, which reinforces the idea that owning a home is a smart financial move.
“Historically, interest rates are still at very affordable levels and in recent weeks rates have started edging lower,” said Ken Crowder, Residential Lender at Old National Bancorp. “We are also seeing customers take advantage of some of the adjustable loan programs (ARM’s) that offer lower rates. For customers buying new construction homes, certain lenders are offering programs where customers can lock in interest rates for extended periods of time while their house is being completed. These programs are designed to hedge the risk of rising interest rates and have shown to be very beneficial.”
