New Puppy Pushes St. Charles Couple to Leave Townhome and Buy New Ranch at Blackberry Creek in Elburn

ELBURN, IL –December 2, 2020 – Paul Lynaugh and his wife, Karen, relocated from North Carolina three years ago and purchased a townhome in St. Charles.  While the empty-nesters enjoyed low-maintenance living and the St. Charles area, the introduction of a Chocolate Labrador puppy, named Luke, created a new set of needs.

“With Luke joining the family we needed a yard,” Paul Lynaugh said.  “When we first moved here from North Carolina we had friends who had wanted us to consider Elburn but, at that time, we felt it was too far west.  It’s only five miles from Randall Road and we really stay local and enjoy the downtown Elburn coffee shop, restaurants and, of course, Reams meat market.”

Located five miles west of Randall Road off Keslinger Road, Blackberry Creek is a 625-acre master-planned community, featuring ponds, walking trails, parks and playgrounds in addition to Kaneland School District’s Blackberry Creek Elementary School.  Shodeen Homes offers a collection of home designs ranging from 2,089 to 3,341 square feet in size with prices starting in  the $350s.

“We chose the Southfork ranch,” Paul said.  “We liked the open layout and we were impressed with the overall quality construction of the home.  We have plenty of room, with four bedrooms, for our daughter and grandchildren when they visit from North Carolina.”

The 2,373-square-foot Southfork ranch features three bedrooms, a den and two baths as standard. The Lynaugh’s opted to add a fourth bedroom in lieu of the den.  Additional highlights include, an island kitchen open to the family room and both formal and informal dining areas.  The master bedroom suite includes two walk-in closets as well as a private bath.  The home also includes a full basement and three-car garage.

“We moved in August to Blackberry Creek and Shodeen has been awesome to deal with from the sales team to the building manager to customer service,” Paul said.  “Everyone is very responsive. I typically get a response to a question within an hour.”

Blackberry Creek residents are within walking distance of downtown Elburn and the Metra station with daily service to Chicago. Children attend highly-rated Kaneland District 302 schools, including Blackberry Creek Elementary School, Harter Middle School and Kaneland High School.

The 18-hole Hughes Creek Golf Club, which offers lessons as well as an award-winning restaurant, is also nearby.  Additional shopping, restaurants, services and Northwestern Medicine Delnor Community Hospital are minutes from Blackberry Creek along Randall Road.

“We like having the golf course just outside our entrance as well as the nearby train station,” Paul said.  “Before COVID, we would take the train to the city twice a month.”

While Blackberry Creek is approaching close-out, there are still several homesites are still available for new construction with a collection of quick move-in homes also available.  Shodeen also offers three distinct series of homes, including low-maintenance, single-family Village Homes, at nearby Elburn Station.  Elburn Station is a 505-acre master-planned community centered around a Metra station with ranch and two-story homes ranging from 1,043 to 2,674 square feet in size and priced from the $240s to the $340s. Homes in all three series are offered for quick move-in for those eager to celebrate the new year in a new home.
