Nurse’s First Time Buying Experience Easy with Shodeen at South Mill Creek Village Homes

GENEVA, IL – February 5, 2021– Erica Mazur grew up in the Fox V alley graduating from Saint Charles East High School before heading to college and becoming a nurse at Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva.  Deciding it was time to leave her parent’s home and invest in one of her own, she knew she wanted to stay in Geneva but, as a first-time buyer, was a bit overwhelmed.

“Buying a home, like most people, is the biggest purchase I’ve ever made,” Mazur said.  “My parent’s purchased a Shodeen home in Fontana, Wisconsin and have been very happy so I was familiar with the Shodeen name.  Everyone at Shodeen, knowing I was a first-time buyer, took the time to explain each step and make me feel comfortable.  They were very communicative and helpful. It was a very good experience.”

Erica purchased a home at Shodeen Homes’ award-winning Mill Creek community located just west of Randall Road in Geneva.  Mill Creek spans over 2,100 acres with over 900 acres of open space dedicated to outdoor recreation and ecological preservation.  Mill Creek includes 2,356 distinctive homes set among 127 acres of preserved wetlands, 195 acres of parks, 17 miles of walking/biking trails, two 18-hole golf courses, a community center and pool, two on-site community churches and a downtown Village Retail Center.   Two Geneva School District #304 grammar schools are located within Mill Creek and niche.com recently named District #304 in the top 6% of school districts in Illinois.

“When I first drove through Mill Creek last March I was excited to see such an active community with residents outside riding bikes, jogging and walking their dogs,” Mazur said.  “I moved here in September so I didn’t get to use the neighborhood pool, but it’s right outside my door so I am planning to spend a lot of time there this summer.”

Only three homes remain in the South Mill Creek Village Home neighborhood. Two of the homes, including the model, are available now with one under construction. Priced from the mid-$300s, these final two-story homes range from 1,551 to 2,071 square feet in size with three bedrooms, 2 ½ or three baths, basements and two-car garages. Two of the homes offer scenic views of the pond and nature preserve and one of the homes includes a first-floor master bedroom. Homes may also feature upgraded gourmet kitchens, screened porches, 9-foot first-floor ceilings, family rooms with fireplaces and more.  Buyers interested in building a single-family home in the traditional Mill Creek neighborhood still have the opportunity to build new with one homesite remaining in the Inverness neighborhood. Ranch and two-story designs are available ranging from 2,373 to 2,956 with three or four bedrooms, two or 3 ½ baths and two or three-car garages.

“I choose the Potomac design because it was so open and I love to cook and entertain so it was perfect for me,” Erica said.  “I can be in the kitchen cooking and watching television in the family room or have friends over and easily be part of the conversation while I am cooking.”

The two-story 1,778-square-foot Potomac features three bedrooms, 2 ½ baths, charming covered front porch, island kitchen open to the family room, dining room and dinette area; master bedroom with private bath and walk-in closet; two secondary bedrooms served by a full hall bath, concrete patio, basement and two-car garage.

“I work a lot so having a low-maintenance neighborhood was really important,” Mazur said.  “it’s also nice to be 10 minutes from my parents and close to work.”
