Elburn, IL- June 11, 2024– After 27 years in their 4,500 square-foot, two-story home in Batavia, Victor Hernandez and his wife, Lydia, decided it was time to simplify their lifestyle yet remain close their daughter in Geneva and Lydia’s many doctors.
“It was time for us to downsize and, with Lydia’s failing health, it was important we find a ranch plan and remain close to her doctors in the Fox Valley area,” said Victor. “We wanted to build but it was difficult to find the right property and right builder until we found Elburn Station.”
Elburn Station is a 505-acre master-planned Shodeen Homes community of ranch and two-story single-family and low maintenance Village homes just west of Randall Road in Kane County. The community is within walking distance of the Metra Train Station and downtown Elburn and is an AT&T Fiber community boasting 99% connectivity reliability.
“We chose the Palmer ranch plan primarily because Lydia wanted a sunroom with lots of windows,” Victor said. “We liked the openness of the plan, the walkout basement, the ability to select what we wanted. It felt like a custom build experience and our homesite was the right size for me to maintain without having to hire someone.”
Single-family homes at Elburn Station are priced from the $380s and range 1,613 to 2,674 square feet with three or four bedrooms, two or 2.5 baths, full basements with lookout and walkout options, and two or three-car garages. Low-maintenance Village Homes 1,185 2,120 square feet and include two to four bedrooms, two to 3.5 baths, basements and two-car garages with prices starting from the $340s.
“Everyone involved in building our home, Carol, Debbie, Garrett and Kimberly, were ‘Johnny-on-the-spot,” Victor said. “They were more than excellent and so willing to help. I have recommended Shodeen to so many people. I keep telling Kimberly in customer service that I am going to surprise her and bring her flowers. One day when we were coming back from Lydia’s doctor appointment, she fell in the garage. As I was struggling to pick her up, Garrett came to help me. They’ve all become more than business associates, they’ve become friends.”
Elburn Station includes a 20-acre community park where Victor says he will explore with his ‘granddog’, Charlie. The park includes soccer and lacrosse fields, pickle ball courts, walking paths, multiple playgrounds, a tennis court, two half-court basketball courts, pavilion and a parking lot. The 18-hole public Hughes Creek Golf Club and restaurant are within minutes and children attend Kaneland District #302 schools, including John Stewart Elementary, Harter Middle School and Kaneland High School.
Shopping, restaurants and other services, such as Northwestern Medicine’s Delnor Hospital, are found along nearby Randall Road as is access to Interstate 88 and the Route 47 exchange.
Elburn, which prides itself in maintaining its small-town values while supporting its residents and promoting its local businesses, is known for its yearly Elburn Days Festival that is held by the local Lion’s Club the third full weekend in August and consists of a parade, carnival rides, music, food and much more.
